Christopher Wray, the FBI director, has been under heavy fire from Donald Trump, partly because of Wray’s recent testimony about an attempted assassination. After the FBI director remarked on the lack of clarity over the extent of Trump’s injuries on Thursday night, Trump vented his annoyance at Wray on his Truth Social platform.

“FBI Director Christopher Wray told Congress yesterday that he was sure that Crooked Joe Biden was physically and cognitively ‘uneventful’ and that he was not sure if I was hit by shrapnel, glass, or a bullet (the FBI never even checked!),” Trump wrote. Trump was upset by Wray’s testimony, which raised questions about whether he was hit by shrapnel or a bullet during the July 13 assassination attempt at a campaign event in Pennsylvania. This is reflected in his reaction.

Trump Doubts Wray’s Testimony and Defends His Injury

FBI Director Wray expressed a degree of ambiguity that Trump took issue with, claiming that a bullet had struck his right ear quite forcefully. He disregarded Wray’s and news reports’ assertions that glass or shrapnel could have caused his wounds. The hospital had classified Trump’s injuries as a “bullet wound to the ear,” and Trump brought up this point, criticizing Wray for downplaying the gravity of the event. Trump went on to say that these kinds of scandals were the reason why people in America no longer trusted the FBI.

In her testimony on Wednesday before the House Judiciary Committee, FBI Director Wray stated that she was unsure if Trump had been hit by shrapnel or a gunshot during the attack. A senior Secret Service agent stated shortly after the incident that broken glass was the source of Trump’s wounds. The incident was accurately reported in the media, with two victims being taken to the hospital and the gunman, Thomas Michael Crooks, being shot and killed by the Secret Service after injuring three others and killing one.

Trump Lists Additional Grievances Against FBI Director

Trump did not restrict his criticism of Wray’s handling of the assassination attempt in his Truth Social post. In addition, he supplied a longer list of complaints, covering topics like illegal immigration, terrorism, the January 6 rioters, and the raid on his Mar-a-Lago home. Trump’s lengthy criticism highlights his enduring discontent with the FBI director and his decisions.
