Parliamentary standing committees rejigged, Javadekar to head ethics panel | India News

NEW DELHI: Forward of the winter session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has reconstituted a number of parliamentary standing committees and appointed their chairpersons.
Because of the reshuffle, former Union minister Prakash Javadekar and BJP MP CM Ramesh have been appointed chairpersons of the ethics and housing committees, respectively, whereas Biju Janta Dal (BJD) MP Sujeet Kumar has been appointed chairperson of the Higher Home’s petitions committee.
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP M Thambidurai will now be heading the panel on authorities assurances whereas BJP MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will chair the parliamentary panel on papers laid on the desk.
BJP’s chief whip in Rajya Sabha Laxmikant Bajpayee will chair committee on subordinate laws. Within the reconstituted Javadekar-led ethics committee, Trinamool Congress (TMC) ground chief Derek O’Brien, Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, BJD’s Sasmit Patra, YSR Congress chief Vijaysai Reddy, and CPM MP Elamaram Kareem, amongst others, shall be members.
