MUMBAI: A 42-year-old man was arrested by the Sakinaka police for attempting to murder his wife after an altercation over water consumption during the ongoing BMC water cut.
The accused, Parmatma Gupta, and his wife, Mira, live at Tilak Nagar in Sakinaka. On Saturday, Gupta returned home drenched in sweat. He decided to take a bath to feel better. But Mira stopped him.She reminded him that a BMC water cut was on and they should be saving water. This apparently infuriated Parmatma and the two had an altercation. Parmatma allegedly picked up a knife and drove it into his wife’s abdomen, leaving her seriously injured. She was rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital at Ghatkopar where she is under treatment.
Parmatma was picked up from his residence by a team from the Sakinaka police station and booked on charges of murder.
