Khatauli assembly bypoll on December 5 as sitting MLA disqualified | India News

NEW DELHI: Bypoll to Khatauli meeting seat in Uttar Pradesh will likely be held on December 5, the Election Fee mentioned on Tuesday.
The bypoll was necessitated after BJP MLA Vikram Singh was final month convicted in a case associated to the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots and handed down a two-year jail time period.
Upon his conviction, Singh was disqualified as a lawmaker, and this was notified by the Uttar Pradesh meeting secretariat, lately.
Communal violence had erupted within the western Uttar Pradesh district after some political leaders made inflammatory speeches in September 2013. A minimum of 60 folks have been killed and greater than 40,000 displaced throughout the riots.
The Khatauli bypoll coincides with bypolls to at least one Lok Sabha and 5 meeting seats in several states. Part two of Gujarat meeting polls may also be held on December 5.
Counting for Khatauli and different bypolls in addition to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh meeting elections will happen on December 8.
