For quite some time, Kartik Aaryan has been trying out different genres; from a dramatic romance with Satyaprem Ki Katha to a gritty biopic with Chandu Champion. Both the films were well received, but nowhere were they close to the success the actor created with his past films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Luka Chuppi or Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. In his exploration space, he also greenlit Vishal Bhardwaj’s Arjun Ustara, backed by Sajid Nadiadwala and Karan Johar-Ekta Kapoor’s next with Sandeep Modi of The Night Manager as the director. But it seems the man is set to restructure his film lineup.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, Kartik wants to go back to his favorite genre which is comedy, hence he has allotted all his dates to Pati Patni Aur Woh 2, directed by Mudassar Aziz along with Anurag Basu’s Aashiqui 3. The first part of Pati Patni Aur Woh featured Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday, however, at this point, it is not confirmed if they will be returning to the film.
The report also quoted a source saying both Arjun Ustara and Karan Johar- Ekta Kapoor’s next have been on the backburner for now, with no exact starting date on the horizon.
Post Chandu Champion, Kartik is tied up with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 which sees him team up with Anees Bazmee once again. He will share screen space with Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Triptii Dimri in the horror-comedy.
