The Pakistani cricket team players, support staff and fans would pray for the rain to stop and stay away from Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in the US, which is scheduled to host the home team’s match against Ireland on July 14. Located in Lauderhill, Florida, it is one of the venues in the ongoing ICC T20 Cricket World Cup. The area is currently experiencing severe inclement weather, so much so that a state of emergency has been declared by local authorities.

This, unfortunately, is bad news for Pakistan, and one that bears the potential to end their world cup campaign prematurely. Having lost two of its three games, including a shock defeat against USA, the green brigade now has to rely on others to help them pull off a miracle. However, now they have to rely on not just Ireland, but also the weather gods to keep their dream alive.

If USA win the match against the Irish, who Pakistan is scheduled to play on Sunday, then the June 16 encounter will become a dead rubber. But with heavy rainfall causing flash floods, coupled with predictions of more rain, the match is likely to be called off, giving each team one point.

If such a situation arises, USA, who have won two of their three matches, will qualify for the next round with five points, along with India, the current group toppers with six points.
