NEW DELHI: BRS leader K Kavitha has been referred to AIIMS-Delhi for a medical checkup by city’s Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday. The court has also sought a report from the health institute.
Kavitha, who was admitted to Deendayal Upadhyay Hospital in Delhi on Tuesday, developed a gynecological problem and high fever while in Tihar Jail. An official stated, “She was taken to DDU Hospital due to some health issues.”
The 46-year-old Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader was sent back to prison after undergoing tests at the hospital.Officials confirmed she stayed in the hospital for two hours before being sent back to Tihar Jail, where she is lodged in jail number 6.
Kavitha was arrested on March 15 in Hyderabad after an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team searched her premises and interrogated her in connection with a money laundering probe linked to the Delhi excise policy case. She is currently in judicial custody at Tihar Jail.
The daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao, Kavitha was later arrested by the CBI on charges of criminal conspiracy and falsification of accounts under sections of the Indian Penal Code and certain sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The court had extended her judicial custody till July 22.
