NEW DELHI: Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation, saying it was a deliberate transfer by “PayPM” to make sure two-three of his billionaire associates monopolize India’s financial system.
The Congress has typically used ‘PayCM’ and ‘PayPM’ jibe on the BJP to allege corruption underneath its rule on the Centre and in states. It’s a play on the digital cost platform PayTM.
Rahul Gandhi’s assault got here on the sixth anniversary of demonetisation. It was on today in 2016 that Prime Minister Modi had introduced the choice to withdraw Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination notes with the final word goal of lowering corruption and black cash within the financial system.
“Demonetisation was a deliberate transfer by ‘PayPM’ to make sure 2-3 of his billionaire associates monopolise India’s financial system by ending small & medium companies,” Gandhi stated in a tweet in Hindi.
The Congress on Tuesday alleged that demonetisation was unbiased India’s “best organised loot” and demanded a white paper from the Modi authorities on the transfer.
“On today in 2016, the Modi govt arbitrarily demonetised Rs 500 & 1000 notes. The federal government failed in its goal to make India a digital, cashless financial system because the forex with public stands at a brand new excessive of 30.88 lakh crores as of 21 October – virtually 72% greater than 6 years in the past,” the Congress stated in a tweet from its official Twitter deal with.
