The headquarters of the Army’s 4 Corps, also known as Gajraj Corps, now sports the tallest flagpole for the Tricolour in the northeastern region.
The National Flag, on a 108-foot-high mast, was unfurled at the Tezpur military garrison in north-central Assam’s Sonitpur district on Thursday (September 11, 2025).
The flag-hoisting ceremony was attended by the Commander of the Gajraj Corps, Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, who addressed the soldiers, students, and NCC cadets, urging them to embrace discipline, service, and to dream big for a strong and efficient country.
Among others who attended the event were the Vice-Chancellor of Tezpur University, State government officials, members of the Central Armed Police Forces, and more than 250 residents, teachers, and schoolchildren.
Major General (Retired) Aseem Kohli of the Flag Foundation of India appreciated the initiative. “The foundation aims to use the National Flag as a symbol of unity, strength, national pride, and patriotism across all sections of society,” he said.
