In view of the ongoing unrest in Nepal, the Andhra Pradesh government has set up an Emergency Cell at the A.P. Bhavan in New Delhi to provide immediate support and ensure the safety return of the Telugus stranded in Nepal.

Suresh Babu has been designated as the Emergency Nodal Officer at AP Bhavan and may be contacted at +91 9818395787 for urgent assistance.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked Union Minister for Civil Aviation K. Rammohan Naidu and the officials of A.P. Bhavan to extend all possible support to the affected Telugus.

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is working in close coordination with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.

AP Bhavan Commissioner Arja Srikanth has spoken to the Ambassador of India to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, who assured all assistance to the Telugus.

Currently, around 30 Telugus are stranded in Bafal, Kathmandu, and are being assisted by the Embassy. Arrangements for food, accommodation, medical aid, and safety monitoring are in place.

The Emergency Cell will function round the clock, coordinating with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, and the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, a statement issued on Tuesday said.

According to sources, several Telugu families are staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Kathmandu. Reports indicate that agitators have been gathering in groups and knocking at the doors of the hotel. As a precautionary measure, the management has decided to shift all Telugu families to a nearby guest house to ensure safety.

“We are in constant touch with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu and coordinating through local representatives,” said members of a team from A.P. Bhavan.
