In a case of international human trafficking, a 30-year-old woman from Bangladesh, who was trafficked into the city for prostitution, escaped and landed at the Hulimavu police station seeking help on Sunday (September 7, 2025).
The victim was in a semi-conscious state and approached a traffic policeman on duty seeking help. The policeman alerted his counterparts who took her to the station and upon inquiry, she revealed the details.
The victim told the police that she was lured by a gang promising a decent job and was brought to the city from Dhaka along with several others. The job offered was as a staff at a beauty parlour for a salary of ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 a month.
However, after landing at a house in HSR Layout, she realised she was in the wrong place. The victim told the police that the accused sedated her and sent her along with two men in a car.
She was taken to an isolated place on Bannerghatta Road and while the accused were drinking alcohol, the victim gained conscious and managed to run away.
She reached the main road and ran towards a policeman whom she saw on the road and sought his help. The victim said she was married and has two children and requested the police to send her home.
The police have now handed over the victim to a city-based NGO and are counselling for further deportation process.
Other rackets busted
It may be recalled that in January this year, Bengaluru police busted similar a racket and rescued 10 women, including some from Bangladesh and Nepal, who had been lured into prostitution in the city.
In October 2024, the CCB busted a prostitution racket and rescued 12 girls from a trafficking and prostitution ring in Bengaluru. The rescued girls included three Bangladeshi nationals who had been smuggled into the city. The police also arrested 26 individuals in connection with the trafficking operations.
Meanwhile, on Monday (September 8, 2025), NIA officilas with the help of local counterparts raided Labours Colony in Mahadevapura and picked up two suspects who were allegedly part of a fake ID racket. The searches are part of the nationwide raids being carried out by the NIA in 22 locations across five states. This includes states like Bihar (8), Karnataka (1), Maharashtra (1), Tamilnadu (1), Uttarpradesh (2), and Jammu and Kashmir (9).
