In view of the lunar eclipse on Sunday, the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri was closed to devotees in the afternoon. At 3:30 p.m., temple priests performed Kavata Bandhanam (closure ritual) of the main temple and the sub-shrines.
According to temple authorities, the shrine will reopen on Monday, September 8, after purification rituals. From 3 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., priests will perform suddhi (purification), snapanabhishekam (ceremonial bathing of the deity), and archana (special prayers). During this time, the regular early morning services — Suprabhata Seva, Khadgamala Puja, and Vastra Seva — will remain cancelled.
The services scheduled at 7:30 a.m. will be postponed and begin only after 8:30 a.m. From then onwards, all categories of darshan will resume as usual.
Temple officials have requested devotees to take note of these changes and extend their cooperation. Kanaka Durga temple Executive Officer V.K. Seena Naik, Samacharya Siva Prasad Sharma, and members of the Vedic Committee were present.
