In a major boost to the police department, the Kurnool Urban Development Authority (KUDA) has sanctioned ₹29.84 lakh for the installation of 100 modern CCTV cameras to aid in crime prevention and detection. Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath handed over the cheque on Saturday to Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil in the presence of KUDA Chairperson Somisetty Venkateswarlu.
Mr. Bharath said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is keen on promoting advanced and emerging technologies, and in line with this vision, AI-enabled CCTV cameras will soon be installed across Kurnool city. He noted that the Kurnool Municipal Corporation has already set up 150 cameras and that the addition of AI-driven surveillance will further strengthen crime prevention. He also thanked Mr. Venkateswarlu for sanctioning the amount from KUDA funds.
Mr. Venkateswarlu said the funds were sanctioned to enhance safety and peace in Kurnool. Mr. Patil observed that the police are prioritising both visible and invisible policing in line with the Chief Minister’s vision, and that the AI-based systems will support this approach.
