Amid the ongoing row over targeting of Bengali-speaking migrants in different States, West Bengal BJP chief whip in the State Assembly Sankar Ghosh was suspended on Thursday (September 4, 2025) and forced out of House by security personnel.
During the discussion over a resolution on targeting Bengali-speaking migrants in different parts of the country, BJP MLAs disrupted the speech of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeking to know why the Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari was suspended. This led to heated arguments between Treasury and Opposition benches.
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Biman Banerjee suspended BJP’s chief whip Sankar Ghosh and MLA Agnimitra for creating ruckus.
When Mr. Ghosh refused to leave, Assembly marshals were called in, and he was dragged out of the House.
Mr. Adhikari was suspended from the State Assembly on Tuesday (September 2, 2025) for raising slogans against State Education Minister Bratya Basu in a bid to object his remark against Army during a debate.
