Minister for Roads, Buildings, Infrastructure and Investments B. C. Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday recommended action against officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for failing to monitor the quality of material and construction works on the Annavaram-Diwancheruvu national highway (NH-16).
Mr. Janardhan Reddy conducted a surprise inspection of the ongoing works of the 70-kilometer-long NH-16 and found poor quality material being used in the road-laying process.
The project is being executed by Mumbai-based Safeway Projects Private Limited under the Toll, Operate and Tax (TOT) mode.
In an official statement, Mr. Janardhan said that the NHAI officials failed to monitor the quality of material and work on the NH-16 between Annavaram and Rajamahendravaram.
