Labour minister and district-in-charge minister for Dharwad on Monday spent the entire day visiting affected villages in his constituency (Kalaghatagi) where crops have been damaged by wild animals and held ‘Jana Spandana’ grievances redressal meeting in Kalaghatagi town.

The visit began with visit to Hulakoppa and Galagi villages, where the crops in the farmland of Channabasappa Halyal has been damaged by wild animals. It was followed by visit to the farmlands of Ashok Hubballi, Subhaschandragouda Patil and Irappa Badiger, where crop loss has been reported.

Subsequently he held discussion with officials and directed them to come out with permanent solution to the crops being damaged by wild animals as the villages in Kalaghatagi and Dharwad taluk were located close to the forests. He directed them to submit joint survey report at the earliest to facilitate release of compensation and also told them to increase patrolling in the villages bordering forests.

The farmers urged the minister to increase the compensation given for crop damages due to wild animals and also take preventive measures.

He then visited farmlands in Hullambi village where wild animals have damaged sugarcane and maize crops. The farmers urged the minister to take steps to provide them gun license to scare the wild animals and also adequate compensation.

The minister was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu G.R.J., Chairman of district guarantee scheme implementation authority S.R. Patil, ZP CEO Bhuvanesh Patil, SP Gunjan Arya and other officials.
