Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed that immediate steps be taken to rehabilitate 1,136 families living in the Chengara land struggle area.

He was chairing a meeting here on Monday to discuss measures to improve the living conditions of the families. The Ministers concerned should hold discussions with the Plantation Corporation, the Farming Corporation and other officials and take all the necessary steps.

A special camp has been organised and ration cards have been distributed. Onam kits were also provided. Mobile ration shops will start distributing food items from next month. The distribution of job cards will be completed soon. The existing anganwadis should be strengthened to address the nutritional problem of children. Medical camps should be organised at regular intervals to identify health problems and ensure adequate treatment. Availability of medicines should be ensured. Steps will be taken to provide solar lamps to students for studying. The Chief Minister also directed that steps be taken to ensure availability of drinking water.

Ministers K. Rajan, K. Krishnankutty, A.K. Saseendran, M.B. Rajesh, G.R. Anil, O.R. Kelu, Veena George, Chief Secretary A. Jayathilak and other officials were present.
