SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT
Kottarakara-native Isaac George’s untimely demise will leave a void forever in the hearts of his loved ones but his heart will now beat in another youngster, giving him another chance at life.
Even in her moment of intense grief and desolation, Isaac’s wife Nancy’s brave decision to donate all salvageable organs to others has given new hopes to not one but six families.
Following her consent for organ donation, Isaac’s heart was harvested and flown in an air ambulance on Thursday morning to Lisie Hospital in Kochi where it was transplanted into a 28-year-old Angamaly native who had been waiting for a donor heart under the government’s deceased donor organ donation programme, Mrithasanjeevani.
One kidney and liver will be transplanted into patients with end stage organ failure awaiting organs at KIMSHEALTH and the other kidney was taken in for a renal failure patient at Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram. Both corneas were harvested for patients at the Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Thiruvananthapuram.
