A 27-year-old labourer was stabbed to death by a co-worker following a quarrel at Ambedkar Nagar in Ghatkesar on Sunday night.
The deceased, identified as Chinavagani Bhaskar, a native of Bhoiguda in Mehdipatnam, moved to Ghatkesar a month ago for labour work, and was residing in a rented workers’ room.
Police said Bhaskar often had petty disputes with his co-worker, Manideep, who lived in the adjoining room.
On Sunday evening, Manideep allegedly began abusing Bhaskar without provocation. A neighbour, Dasu, intervened and pacified them. However, around 9 p.m., the accused resumed hurling abuses. Bhaskar and Dasu then went to his room to question him. During the heated exchange, Manideep allegedly attacked Bhaskar with a knife, stabbing him in the chest and stomach.
Dasu managed to stop the accused and, along with his wife, rushed Bhaskar to the Government Hospital at Ghatkesar. He was later shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad, where doctors declared him dead.
The Ghatkesar police registered a case and initiated an investigation.
