Hindu Mahasabha’s Ganesha idol immersion procession attracts huge crowd in Karnataka’s Shivamogga

The procession to mark the immersion of the Ganesha idol installed by the Hindu Mahasabha in Shivamogga attracted a huge crowd on Saturday. Amidst tight security, hundreds of people took part in the procession, which included folk troupes and group performances.

The procession began at the Bheemeshwara temple and covered SPM Main Road, Ramanna Shreshthi Park, Gandhi Bazar Road, S.N. Circle, A.A., and reached Nehru Circle by evening. The idol was then immersed in river Tunga near Bheemeshwara temple.

Along the march, devotees offered garlands made of fruits, flowers, and dry fruits to the idol. Many organisations distributed water, butter milk, juice, and food to the devotees taking part in the procession.

Shivamogga district administration had diverted traffic to ensure a smooth procession. Heavy vehicles were not allowed to enter the city. Many schools had declared a holiday on the day in view of traffic congestion. The police had installed CCTV cameras across the city to keep a vigil on any untoward incident. Nearly 3,000 policemen, including five Superintendents of Police, two Additional Superintendents of Police, 21 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 58 Police Inspectors, 65 Police Sub Inspectors, and 198 trainee Police Sub Inspector were on duty.
