The newly-renovated Emergency Medical Care Block at Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital would be inaugurated by Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil on September 5.

On September 3, Shashil G. Namoshi, president of Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society, informed mediapersons said that upgradation of the Emergency Medical Care unit marks a critical advancement in the hospital’s capacity to provide high-quality emergency care, aligning the institution with national standards. The modernisation initiative is aimed at significantly improving patient care, operational efficiency and emergency preparedness at the institute.

The 32-bed refurbished bock includes a Triage Department, 6-bed Resuscitation (Pulmonary Resuscitation) (CPR) Department, 6-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 6-bed Isolation ICU, 14-bed Monitoring Department and a Special Emergency Surgery Zone. Besides this, two modular operation theatres have been set up in the hospital.

The renovation project involved a total cost of ₹6 crore, Mr. Namoshi added.

A team of 15 specialists, including a neurologist, cardiologist, nephrologist, urologist, endocrinologist, plastic surgeon and gastroenterologist, will be available in the Emergency Care Unit.

The Basaveshwara hospital has 24-hour ambulance service, is equipped with state-of-the-art intubation facilities, ventilator facilities and other essential medical equipment. Each ambulance is staffed with trained emergency medical technicians who connect with doctors in the emergency medical department from the moment a patient arrives in the ambulance. This helps to initiate medical emergency care to stabilise the patient in the ambulance.

Mr. Namoshi informed that the hospital recently added modern equipment worth ₹5 crore and is planning to procure some advanced equipment at an estimated cost of ₹20 crore.

HKE Society vice-president Raja Bhimalli, secretary Uday Kumar Chincholi, governing council member Dr. Kiran Deshmukh, Dean Sharangowda Patil, and Medical Superintendent Mallikarjun Tegnoor were present at the media conference.
