A tsunami drill will be held in Cuddalore district on September 4 to assess the crisis management system and response of various departments in the event of a tsunami.

According to Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, the exercise will be held between 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sothikuppam village in Cuddalore, Parangipettai in Bhuvanagiri block and Killai in Chidambaram block.

The programme is being conducted with the active participation of the district administration, disaster management agencies and various line departments.

Residents should not panic during the mock drill as it has been designed to strengthen the knowledge and capacity of coastal communities to deal with tsunamis, Mr. Kumar said.
