The Ministry of Residence Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday mentioned that 2,420 Sikh pilgrims travelled to Pakistan on November 6 by means of the Attari border in Punjab to take part within the start anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak, founding father of the Sikh religion. The pilgrims have been issued a 10-day pilgrim visa by Pakistan and are anticipated to return on November 15.

A press release by the ministry mentioned the pilgrims travelled beneath the banner of assorted Sikh spiritual organisations of Punjab and Haryana.

On Tuesday, 433 pilgrims from India additionally visited Gurdwara Darbar Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan, by means of Dera Baba Nanak, Amritsar to supply prayers on the event. Pilgrims included 429 Indians and 4 Abroad Residents of India (OCI). All of the pilgrims have returned after providing their prayers, the ministry added.

As per a 1974 bilateral protocol, 4 Sikh jathhas (spiritual teams) go to necessary Gurudwaras in Pakistan yearly.
