CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday visited flood-affected areas of village Gatti Rajo Ke in Firozepur district to review the situation. He travelled by boat to reach the affected areas, interacted with villagers and assured them of government support.During the visit, an elderly woman placed her hand on Mann’s head and shared her concerns, following which the chief minister was seen turning emotional. “The government will provide full compensation to every affected person due to the flood damage,” he said. He also repeated his request for the central government to increase disaster relief compensation.Mann said the state government would ensure better preparedness for future natural calamities. He sat with villagers in their homes, listened to their issues and directed officials to address complaints on the spot. “The administration is continuously engaged in relief efforts and is making every possible effort to move people to safe locations,” he added.Meanwhile, Mann urged residents to remain patient and expressed confidence that the situation would return to normal soon.
